Hofmeyr was founded in 1871 as Maraisburg and the place where the Highveld and the Karoo meet . In 1911 the name was changed to Hofmeyr named after Jan Hendrik Hofmeyr who later became South Africa’s deputy president during the Second World war. Hofmeyr has an old Post Office that has been declared a Heritage Site. |
