Stutterheim

 
 


Founded in 1837 by disbanded soldiers from the Brittish German Legion who had fought in the Sixth Frontier War in 1835 named the town after their commander, Richard von Stutterheim. Stutterheim is situated at the foot of the Amatole Mountains and is a successful centre for forestry, citrus, sheep, diary and beef production. Stutterheim has spectacular mountain veiws and activities include hiking, horse riding, mountain biking and an 18 hole golf course. The town also offers fine angling and water sports.
