Benoni

Benoni is one of the largest cities in the East Rand. Sir George Farrar is responsible for most of the city’s beauty; he was the chairman of the mining company that first owned the area and during the early 1900’s planted thousands of trees in Benoni. Water was pumped from the mines into a natural marsh and a chain of reservoirs were created and stocked with fish. The reservoirs, still around today are big enough for boating and yachting with many beautiful picnicking spots on the banks.
