Boksburg is home to some of the richest and deepest gold mines in the world. The town was established to serve the mines in 1887 and named in honor of Edward Bok, a State Secretary of the former South African Republic.

Old Post Office built in1898, Law Court built in 1890. The St Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church where designed by Sir Herbert Baker.
