Established in 1903 when Karl Wolff decided to sub divide a portion of his Zuurfontein farm into residential stands. He named the town Kempton after the Bavarion town he was born in. The name was later changed to Kempton Park. The Johannesburg international Airport was built in 1952 on land right next door to the town.
