Ermelo

 
 


Ermelo is a farming district that produces wool, beef, mutton, maize, sunflower seed, lucerne, sorghum and potatoes. Research into crop production and animal husbandry is carried out at the Nooitgedacht Agricultural Station which is only 4km from Ermelo. Coal, anthracite and torbanite are extracted from mines in the area. Recreational facilities at Willem Dam, Douglas Dam and the Pet Dam have been established.
