Nieuwoudtville

 
 


The town was established in the late 1800’s. Nieuwoudtville is known for its unusual vegetation, it is home to the largest variety of indigenous bulb plants in the world, and Nieuwoudtville Falls on the Doring River, which is about 100m high. The town’s economy is based mostly on sheep ranching.

Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve
Ten kilometres south of town, the rugged series of deep ravines incised by the Oorlogskloof River offers hiking trails (two 50km four-day hiking trails and two 1-day walks) and a home to several rare bird species, including booted eagles, black storks and gymnogene.
