The town was established in 1843 and named after Queen Victoria of England. Just south of Victoria West are the three flat-topped hillocks that have become landmarks, they are called the Three Sisters. Attractions and Things to do in Victoria West Apollo Theatre Where regular film festivals are held. It is the only example left in South Africa, of a 1950s Art Deco cinema. Museum With interesting displays including fossilised fish proving the Karoo was an inland sea, 200 million years ago.
