Observatory

This suburb south of the City Bowl is named after the first observatory established by the British Admiralty in 1821. Every second Saturday of each month the observatory is open to the public for a two hour presentation. It is a popular residential area, green and well protected from the wind and within close proximity to the University of Cape Town. Observatory’s lively Main Street has many student pubs and restuarants.
