Parow

Parow is named after the Prussian sea captain, Johann Parow who wrecked his ship in Table bay in 1865. He decided to make the best of a bad situation and became a farmer. It is on his farm that the town of Parow was established. The Tygerberg (Stellenbosch University’s teaching hospital) is located in Parow.
